Thanks to the integrated control system, robolink can now also be operated independent of the switch cabinet and PC
Cost-effective automation of simple tasks is the aim of the igus robolink product range. At the 2017 SPS IPC Drives, igus presented a new, very compact version. The control system is located at the base of the gripper arm and makes an additional switch cabinet and the permanent connection to the PC superfluous. The robot arm including control system is available from € 4,723.

The application phase for the competition for exciting polymer plain bearing solutions will be made official at the Motek in Stuttgart.

Once again, the opportunity to apply for the international manus award will now be open for companies and individual developers. Whether serial applications for the industry or individual parts – anyone can apply with a polymer plain bearing application. The winners will be awarded at the 2017 Hannover Messe, and the prize money is up to 5,000 euros.

The winners were chosen from 467 entries from 34 countries at the Hannover Messe

The manus awards were presented for the seventh time yesterday evening at the Hannover Messe. The creative potentials inherent in the use of polymer plain bearings have been displayed here by developers from around the world. The manus gold was awarded to Jan-Philipp Kobler of the Leibniz University of Hannover, where a system has been developed for use in ear surgery. A special prize was awarded to the company ATS ELGI from India, which uses lubrication-free plastic plain bearings from igus in its car-wash systems.

The jury, which chooses the prizewinners of the igus-sponsored “manus” competition held every two years had more than ever to do this year. With no less than 437 innovative ideas for the use of lubricant-free plastic plain bearings being submitted, experts and academics had a tough selection job on their hands. The result was announced at the Hanover Fair.

The search was on for the 6th time for innovative applications that use lubricant and maintenance-free plastic bearings and stand out through their technical and/or economic efficiency and creativity.
